Happy New Year!

to those I won't see tonight.

Yes, I know I owe you a Weekend Recap but it'll have to wait.

Sorry, it's been a busy and tiring weekend!

That Trader Joe's 100% whole grain FIBER bread must be delicious

you can't just eat one piece!

cleobread

I made this whole trek over to Trader Joe's in Brookline because my friend told me about the champagne over there. She did a taste test the other day and bought some so I thought I'd head over and buy some for the party tonight plus I never get to go over to that Trader Joe's. It was a mad house. I got a couple bottles of champagne, some bread, cereal and chocolate milk but that was all I could take of the store so I had to bolt. So anyway, took my sweet time getting home, made it to Downtown Crossing for a little more shopping and then home to feed the dogs. Fed Cleo and took Billy out while she was eating because it's easier that way. Came back home to find Cleo on my bed eating the whole loaf of bread I just bought. Now she's probably going to be shitting all night long.

Warning roomies, I'm leaving at 9 for the party, you better take her out on the hour for the shits she'll have from eating all that fiber.

Nice Cleo. You'd think I fucking starve you!

I have a Sheila Divine Hangover

Good thing there wasn't a night four because I'm not sure I could have made it. It was a great 3 nights of TSD and luckily I remembered my camera for the last night. Here they are performing 'I'm a Believer.'

Here are some of the pics.

One down, Two to go

I just got back from TT's for the benefit show for the bartender Jeanne.

TSD just played a short set as did all the bands so it was a great warm-up for this weekend at The Paradise. I know for sure tomorrow night's show is sold out. RJ was supoosed to go w/ me tonight but couldn't make it so now he might try to get a ticket for tomorrow's show. I've tried to get one for him but been unsuccessful so far but I've had my ticket forever so I'm good.

Tonight Aaron, TSD lead singer, was standing next to me during Taxpayer's set so I couldn't help myself from talking to him. I told him Good Job Tonight and he said Thanks and sprayed saliva all over my face, yeah!, and then I told him I was the one who found the video of some random guy doing tai chi or something to a Dear Leader song (his current band), since he did say that was the best birthday present ever, I just wanted credit for it :0)

Best Week Ever has a podcast!

I just subscribed, yay!

but it's a video podcast.

Who knew?

My favorite gift this Christmas would be Buy One Get One Free Diet Coke 2 Liters at CVS.

I would stock up but I thought I might try and give up soda for the new year??

But I love it soooo!

I just had this stupid dream, really, just now!

I was in this group of chicks and some lady was asking us to answer this question, and I had to go first:

Tell us someone you think you look like, or you want to emulate, or are inspired by. (something to that effect)

So in my dream I remember myself first thinking, I can't think of anyone 'famous' that I look like so that has to be out. Then I was thinking about the emulate thing and I thought of Winona Ryder and then I thought that would have been fine if I was in grade school but now she's got the klepto thing and that probably wasn't a good answer, but I'd have to say I got that part down to a t in high school, again not something I should be saying so my answer ended up being:

Keira Knightley

and then I had to explain why so I went into this whole monologue thing which I can barely remember at this point (it is 4:09 am in real life) that I'm feeling is SNL-esque which maybe it is but I don't think it was Keira Knightley because I don't think she's been on SNL but I was saying because she's an actress and gets to do hot guys on screen, and do hots guys off screen (not that I even know who she does on and off screen) and I just kept going and going and going but I can't remember any of that anymore.

And I think the whole reason I was stuck in this dream is because my dog was moving around at the time, and maybe because I've been watching Crowned on Wed. nights.

Merry Christmas!

Let's go back to an oldie time Christmas when I actually looked forward to it.

From left to right:

Cousins Tracy (RIP), Tammy, Brian J., Karaoke Brian, and Me on Timmy's lap (he doesn't have a messed up head, it's just how the picture scanned).

Weekend Recap: 'Twas the Weekend before Christmas

and I fucking HATE Tila Tequila for coming up in my weekend recap and ended up at her Myspace page which proceeded to crash my browser and totally erase the big long Weekend Recap I had just written! I know, I'm not supposed to make posts directly in the browser but I was, whatever!

I can't recreate all this. Now what to do?

I have raging PMS, someone please put me out of my misery. What a fantastic Christmas present.

Friday night was a semi-dud. Never made last minute plans to hang out w/ the ladies before going out of town. Got home from work and realized I had left my wallet so had to go back to work after I walked and fed the dogs, good thing I live close, and decided to take Cleo w/ me on the T. She did very well! My roomies asked me to go to dinner before I skipped town which was weird because RR and I hadn’t talked in about a week. Decided to go w/ them and sat in silence at dinner for a very long time until finally the ice was broken I guess and we could have a semi-normal conversation.

Went home to pack and hang out until around 1am. Then to bed and up at 6am to get ready for Janet and Annie to pick me up at 7. I got done early so could start watching The Biggest Loser finale that I had recorded. Good thing they were late too so I could watch even more. Have to finish it when I get back to Boston. Biggest Loser Couples January 1st!

The ride to NY was pretty uneventful except Janet drives right up on cars' asses, kinda scary and their poor dog Lucinda (Lou for short) was panting the whole time. Janet had to meet family at this place in Cazenovia so my mom was meeting us there to get me. She was late and after picking me up said she was glad they weren’t just waiting there for her to pick me up, because they had to be there anyway and I said ‘What about me?’ and that made her mad I guess because I’m not allowed to be mad that she was late. She’s picking me up so that’s doing me a favor and I can’t complain. So we didn’t start out on a good note. After that went to lunch and the grocery to get stuff for all the Christmas Eve and Christmas stuff she had to bake.

Got home and I helped w/ a little baking, did some laundry, and hung out. Eventually went up in the attic and got some of my books down to read. When I moved from Boston to Kansas I left a bunch of books and stuff w/ my mom. After dinner we watched Blood Diamond but I had already seen it so went to bed early and read my book.

Sunday morning got up and went into Hamilton, NY to run w/ mom. I had to do 9 miles and she only had to do 5 so we did this race course loop backwards from a race we’d done in the summer w/ Dedra where we all placed in our age groups. The course backwards was actually hillier and though it was relatively warm out on Sunday it was windy. After 5 Mom went into a restaurant to wait for me and I did the loop another time. Even though it was a much hillier long run course than I do in Boston, I was surprised that my pace wasn’t so bad. Went home to warm up and spent the rest of the day reading and watching football w/ Gary while Mom baked and cooked. The Giants ended up beating the Bills in a great game though the Pats/Miami was a joke. I wish the Giants could beat the Pats this coming Saturday but since the Giants just clinched a playoff spot they will probably rest some of their starters.

Watched some more TV: 60 minutes, Amazing Race and then 2 episodes of Journeyman online. I always end up getting distracted when I watch it on TV and then have to rewatch it later online to remember what happened. Supposedly I just watched the last episode of it. I’ll have to find something to replace it like American Idol which starts soon.

Monday morning/afternoon spent hours on Gary’s computer trying to fix it. Apparently he lost all of his music. Good thing he doesn’t have that much. I don’t know what the hell happened to it but he said when he would click on a song it would ask him to find it. First I just thought that his path was screwed up but then I realized he had none of these songs anywhere on his computer. Somehow they got deleted. First I wanted to download the latest software for iTunes and his iPods. He hadn’t been doing it because he didn’t remember his Admin password so then I had to get his OS CD and put that in to reset his password and then download a ton of software and then find an application to get his songs from his iPods back onto his computer. iPodRip ended up working perfectly so that was good and Gary got all his songs back. Next time I hope he’ll be able to troubleshoot a little. All he has to do is try a Google search and go from there but he doesn’t seem that capable. I guess I’m glad I could help but I feel like he’s helpless to try and explain anything to or show how to figure things out on his own for next time.

That put us into late afternoon and now we all had to get ready to go to Aunt Winnie’s for the Xmas Eve party as usual every year. We had to make some stops first plus pick up Aunt Margaret from her rehab place. She’s a mess in diapers w/ a wheelchair ever since being diagnosed w/ ovarian cancer at the beginning of 2007, plus she’s 84 years old. It was a big project to get her to Aunt Winnie’s but she was very happy to get the hell out of that place. She hates it and thinks everyone is trying to kill her. What’s taking them so long?

So I spent the night mainly w/ my 34-35 year old cousin Brian serenading me w/ Rascal Flatts karaoke which was very strange until I could recruit more relatives for him to sing to. My 33 year old cousin Tammy w/ the 5 year old triplet boys from in vitro that isn’t supposed to be able to have children is 5 months pregnant and getting her tubes tied once they get the kid out. I listened to my mom and aunts tell my ~20 year old cousin that she could always go back to school later in life, like my mom did, since she didn’t like college and I guess working at the department store cosmetics counter is okay for her now. My 29 year old cousin Mark’s 9 year old daughter said to me ‘If there was a pole there I could slide down it…like a stripper,’ and in that pause I thought she was going to say fireman. She also simulated pole dancing w/ the banister and said she learned it from watching Tila Tequila w/ her mother. And I thought I was a bad influence on my niece. Tammy’s husband asked me if I was a member of PETA and wondered why I was wearing so much leather (leather coat and boats), I guess because I’m a vet, they have no idea what I do at work and it’s impossible to explain so I’m just glad I’m there for a night and can get back to Boston real soon where the people I’m around are more like me. It’s a good dose of birth control though!

Drove back to Mom’s w/ Alzheimer’s Grandma, she’s staying w/ us the next couple nights, good times. Sang xmas tunes in the car while she asked me the same thing over and over. Once home Mom and Gary got into a big fight, I rarely see them fight and this one was kinda bad, over him tracking in water and mud from outside onto the floor she just cleaned and he was denying that it was mud so she had to wipe it up and show him and I was adding my own commentary joking around not to worry about it because no one was coming over, when actually Gary’s whole family is coming tomorrow, and she said Good, I don’t want anyone to come over, and Gary thought that was dissing his family and he wanted an apology and she didn’t want to give one and Grandma and I were just sitting there silent until Mom took Grandma to bed and then she went to bed and Gary asked me another computer question.

I think I’ve gotten it all down on paper now. It was a struggle so I hope you appreciate it. Off to bed. Santa might come. Please! I know that’s a stretch.

How about some poetry courtesy of baby Greg

HRM (my initials, in case you didn't know)

Her royal majesty
What a royal travesty
Her people plead for love and devotion
In return delivered sadness and commotion

Her royal majesty
What a royal controversy
She rules with an iron fist playing the part
Allows no one, nothing, nobody into her heart

Check out these GIRAFFEs

Next to the dog, giraffes are my favorite animal. They're so awesome!!!

Check out this article for some latest genetic findings.

When I was in Paris I made a trip to the zoo with Jen mainly to see the pygmy hippo baby but I was amazed with their giraffes. Check them out!

Today's Favorite Song: A Little Lie

Just can't get enough :0)

That time has passed
Some things that never really last
We've come undone
To me you'll always be the one

Calm down people
It's just a little lie
You know it doesn't mean nothing
And I realize you could be right

Calm down people
It's just a little lie
You know it doesn't mean nothing
And I realize you could be right

I walk alone
And you know I never felt at home
I'm so hard to please
And I have everything I need

Oh, calm down people
It's just a little lie
You know it doesn't mean nothing
And I realize you could be right

Oh, calm down people
It's just a little lie
You know it doesn't mean nothing
And I realize you could be right

Go Dave!

So I guess iTunes Affiliate sucks for making links. I never really used it but maybe it's me. You can make little text links to anything like I did here but it gives you no information about what it's linking to until you click on it. You can make graphic links but it seems there are only certain ones available and you can't search through them easily. I can't believe it'd be so crappy but who knows. I guess I need to play around with it more. You can do affiliate things for iMixes too which I tried to do but again didn't work.

Anyway, I've linked to a Live! performance of Dave Gahan's new CD Hourglass at the Apple Store in Soho.

Hope it pays off

I ran my track workouts the last two Thursdays at Boston Common outside in the treacherous snow. Last week I did all alone, very slowly, not a typical track workout but this week we actually had an organized workout there w/ Coach Joe. Not many were brave enough to show up (Tara and Joslynn, heehee) but the chosen few were hardcore! I got in a good 6 miles I'd say.

Got home to try and warm up. When I looked in the mirror there was a lot of black mascara under both eyes. Thanks teammates for letting me know! Jeez :0) As usual after running in very cold and wet conditions, I took a shower w/ the hot water as hot as it would go and when I got out of the shower my lips were still blue.

I met Joslynn after at The Beacon Hill Pub for a beer. I didn't have anything to eat and they don't have food so I tried to order in from The Sevens but they wouldn't do it. Since it seemed so difficult to get delivery, though they have menus for you to do it, I decided to take off and got a slice of pizza on the way home.

Hopefully we can hang out tomorrow night for a bit since I leave at 7am Saturday.

Once upon a time I met a Beaky!

Her name is Cleo. This is the first day I met her. Mr. Kreissler brought her all the way from his place in Oklahoma to my place in Kansas.

Cleofirstday

She used to howl A LOT more, like, ALL THE TIME!

Cleohowl

She used to play with her doggie roommates. This one is Boston. His daddy liked the band Boston and named him after them. Just so happened I was transplanted to this strange place from the city of Boston.

CleoBostonplay

She liked to relax on my head too while I was watching TV on the couch in the living room.

Now she's pretty lazy!

My babies are growing up!

First there was Ella (I tortured her w/ that crap on her head and neck, what an awful Auntie I am)

Then along came JJ

And now they both just keep growing

Today's Ask me a question

Mark writes:

Now my question: I have been looking at the photo that caps your blog and for the life of me I cannot figure out what that is you are holding in your left hand. Please help a brother out and tell me (if you remember.) That's all. Have a very merry Christmas and a great new year! Peace! - M.

This is not the first time someone has wondered what is in my hand. I'm pretty sure it's just a wad of cash kinda rolled up. Now take a look. See what I see?

Today's Fuck You goes to...

Thesandbox

The Sandbox, the WFNX morning show. I would get more specific but I don't know which one of you douches made the comment, except I know it wasn't Henry.

I called in this morning to vote for the 'my song is better than your song' thing because I like Thunder Kiss '65 and yes I used to spend plenty of time at Axis back in the day dancing to it. Mike Gioscia was going against Henry this morning and that was the song Mike picked. He used to DJ at Axis back then.

I got on the radio back in the summer too but I didn't get to hear it so don't know if they made any asshole comments then, this time I heard the whole thing.

I call in, they ask your name and your age. Then they say you're going live w/ the DJs and not to swear. So they ask me what song I'm voting for and I say 'Thunder Kiss' then they ask if I spent time at Axis back then and I say 'Yes, I remember it fondly' and then they ask if I made out w/ Mike in the DJ booth and I say 'No, I wasn't that lucky,' which is supposed to be a joke, I don't really know who the hell he is or care. Then they talk to another girl who votes same as me and then after they're done w/ her someone makes some crack about how we're 33 and 34 respectively to Mike, like Dude, do you really want these old chicks? You guys suck! Regardless of how old I am I look much better than your mugshots on the site and I have no interest in Mike or any of you so who cares.

You guys are just lucky that all the other stations suck because the only reason anyone listens to your morning show is for the music.

Where's Mike Swasey or Storm Zbel? I'd rather listen to them.

Shows I've Been To Updated though still not complete

Some of the links are cool videos or posts I found about the shows and the rest are band sites.

Most recently: Beth Orton at the MFA for a pretty intimate show. There was one at 7 and one at 9. I went to the 9 w/ Nathan. Had a dead center seat maybe 10 rows back. Highlights for me: Paris Train and Sugar Boy.

I saw Natasha Bedingfield at Hampton Beach Casino, NH on Sunday night June 22, 2008. The Veronicas opened, I didn't get there in time for them. Went w/ RJ.

I saw Duran Duran at Agannis Arena Boston, MA on Wed. May 28, 2008. Your Vegas opened, caught the end of their set, they were an okay UK band. Went w/ Michelle.

I saw Natalie Merchant at Symphony Hall, Boston, MA perform w/ the Boston Pops! Went w/ Jason.

I saw Scamper at the Middle East downstairs on February 2, 2008. It was their final show. Forget who played w/ them. Went w/ Steve and other co-workers.

I saw The Sheila Divine 3 nights in a row. First at TT's on December 27th, 2007. It was a benefit show for a bartender there so there were 5 bands including Orbit and Taxpayer that played short sets. A good warmup for the rest of the weekend.
Friday December 28, 2007 was at The Paradise w/ Orbit again and The Control Group. I went w/ RJ.
Saturday December 29, 2007 again at The Paradise w/ Orbit again and Hiss and Chambers. I went w/ Jason.

I saw Morrissey at The Orpheum on October 30, 2007. I have some okay pictures and vid/audio. I got there a little late and missed 1.5 songs, boo! not w/ Kristeen Young instead Girl in a Coma joined the tour. I got there too late to see them.

I went to the Chocolate Church in Maine w/ Becca Lu and Dan on November 17, 2007 to see Kate Schrock, and Travis James Humphrey. There was someone else too that went on first but I can’t remember.

I don’t really count these as shows but I’ll put them anyway because they were fun. Both were at The Estate. Felix da Housecat on Halloween 2007 and Kaskade on November 30, 2007.

Dear Leader My last DL show was October 26, 2007 at The Paradise. I got to drag Tara along.

Morrissey July 7, 2007 at BofA Pavilion. The rescheduled show. I was supposed to go home this weekend to run The Boilermaker 15K w/ my mom but I didn’t want to miss the show, especially after all the drama w/ walking out on us the first show. w/ Kristeen Young. I went w/ Nathan.

Morrissey June 26, 2007 at BofA Pavilion. Drama show! w/ Kristeen Young :0( I don’t like her. I went w/ Nathan.

Cowboy Junkies w/ the Boston Pops at Symphony Hall June 24, 2007. I went w/ Jason and Nathan. This turned out to be the night of the infamous Jury’s sleepover.

Dear Leader June 16, 2007 at The Paradise. I was in the front against the stage. I think I can see myself in the video. Though I’m on Aaron’s left so you have to wait until Shilo moves to the other side of the stage.

The Sheila Divine played at TT’s on St. Pat’s Day 2007. It was some silly promotional thing for Bushmill’s and you had to be on the guest list. Luckily Nathan and I made it.

Dear Leader November 10, 2006 at The Paradise.

Gun ‘N Roses November 8, 2007 at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA w/ Sebastian Bach and Papa Roach.

Dear Leader September 15, 2006 at TT’s w/ Nathan.

Celtic Woman July 14, 2006 BofA Pavilion. This was on a date, I’m up for anything though this is definitely not my scene. This guy, Gopi, was totally into them. It was fun though I have to say.

Madonna July 10, 2006 at the Fleet Center.

Sweet & Tender Hooligans May 19, 2006 at The Middle East. Here’s the scoop.

Depeche Mode May 10, 2006 somewhere in Kansas City w/ She Wants Revenge. Got there too late to see them open. Made it just in time for DM, though didn’t make it to my seat. That’s okay, I wouldn’t be standing long.

Depeche Mode December 3, 2005 at The Bogata in Atlantic City w/ The Bravery opening. I went w/ Diana and Anton. I was still in vet school at the time so had to fly from Kansas to NY and meet Diana to then drive to Atlantic City. It was an awesome night! Great show!!!

Madonna July 1, 2004 at The Centrum in Worcester.

Concert for John Kerry at The Middle East June 24, 2004 w/ Commodore Vic, Count Zero, Dear Leader, The Fly Seville, Freezepop, U.V. Protection

WMFO's British Accents Presents The Good North & The Information, My Favorite, Saintface May 27, 2004 at The Middle East. I think I went to this because I know I’ve seen Saintface but I thought it was w/ a Smiths cover band and I don’t know if any of these other bands are. I think I was there because I just checked when I imported the Saintface EP and it was June 1, 2004.

The Sheila Divine funeral October 11, 2003 at The Paradise. I went w/ Randy, Nathan and Jason.

Whitney Houston This was my first concert ever. I wasn't a big fan but my Aunt Winnie and cousin Tammy had an extra ticket. It was at the State Fair in Syracuse. I think I was around 11 years old.

Aerosmith w/ Guns N' Roses. My Dad won me tickets to this concert. It was the summer before 9th grade. I think I was 12. At the time I was completely obsessed with Axl Rose. I've never been so obsessed with anyone else. It was awful! The concert was my first exposure to drugs and crazy stuff. Tammy and I rode w/ my Dad's friends from work. They were supposed to look out for us though I do remember taking off and going up front and Tammy getting punched in the mouth. She just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I bought my GNR shirt w/ the raped girl on the back and then felt stupid wearing it to school that way so I covered her in with black marker. I still have the shirt but now it's ruined.

Whitesnake w/ Faster Pussycat My Dad won me tickets to this show too, same summer.

Bon Jovi w/ Skid Row I saw this show in 9th grade, so 1988. My Uncle was working at the Dome then so he got us our own box to sit in. It was great! I had a really sore neck the next day from headbanging. Ha Ha!

INXS w/ The Soup Dragons. This was also at the Carrier Dome. I was now in 11th grade, 1991. I went with Carrie Maslona.

Tori Amos RobReed and I saw Tori in Boston at The Wang Center, around 1997.

Why do they keep cancelling my favorite new shows?

This season my new fav show is Journeyman. Normally it's on Monday nights but I just happened to see tonight that it was on again and it was new. I thought that was very strange to do so I was looking up the show and came across articles saying the show is canceled. I hope it doesn't end up happening. I like this show.

Last season it was The Nine. I liked this show a ton and it got pulled so soon. At least they showed us all the episodes they had made. I thought it was a great cast though and I miss them.

Good thing I can watch Private Practice for Tim Daly, I love him, and John Billingsley (update your site!) keeps showing up in all my shows it seems.

And let's not forget Models, Inc. and Relativity.

Check out my cookies from Joslynn & Rhiannon's Cookie Party

mycookies

I'm so proud of my cookies. I couldn't eat them right away. When I got home last night I gave each dog one of Smurfette's arms. Tonight I finally ate them. Yum!

Thanks to the gracious hosts and Joslynn's amazing baking skills. She made the dough from scratch and had it ready for us to make into cookies. She also made the icing, many different colors, and she taught me how to make the icing too. I chose purple. Not that I was thinking of it at the time but it's K-State's crazy color.

The Sheila Divine funeral on YouTube.

Today's Fuck You goes to...

Anderson Cooper. I want to go to the Congo!

And honorable mention to Will Smith. I didn't like your stupid movie!

The very smelly, nasty, disgusting,

very fat, maybe homeless, I hope crazy man that I had to call and complain about before because he was sticking plastic grocery bags down into his ass to clean himself while alone w/ me in the laundromat is there again.

His stink quickly takes over the not-very-large laundromat.

While I was putting my clothes in the washer at the opposite end I was trying not to vomit. I'm not looking forward to going back several times tonight.

I hope he leaves soon!

I got a personal call today at work

the only reason I mention it is because no one ever calls me at work even for work-related things so it was funny to get a call from baby Greg all the way from London. Not sure why he decided to call me, normally email is just fine but it was nice to get a phone call for a change. Besides, I don't think I've heard his voice since my graduation party Summer 2006. You still sound the same, older than me :0)

Weekend Recap: Best Weekend Ever?

No, but not bad.

After work on Friday I went straight to Downtown Crossing for some quick shopping. Got a few tops and that was it. I thought there was still a Gap in the Corner Mall but I guess that mall is now too ghetto for The Gap, so no luck finding bottoms. Next stop was home to drop off all my stuff. Since I went straight from work I had my usual bag w/ my laptop and all kinds of other stuff plus I had worked out so I had my workout bag as well, and now a bag w/ some clothes.

Next was to Whole Foods to get the stuff to make cheesecake for the CRC party Sat. night. I found everything except graham cracker crumbs, and didn't get the food coloring because it was $18.99 because it was all non-toxic or something, because cheapo food coloring is toxic?? So then back to CVS, no crumbs, then White Hen, no crumbs. So I went home and wasn't going to make it. Just thought I'd do it on Sat. My roomies told me to just buy graham crackers and mush them up so that's what we (Jenn and I) ended up doing. AND, she had food coloring. So I made my cheesecake, though kinda a hassle and took more work than usual. I was just happy the red and green swirly I made on the top looked okay because that was new for me.

After the cheesecake was in the oven, I had to get ready for my date, the boy I met at The Estate when we went to see Kaskade. Hadn't seen him since that night so it'd been a little while. He picked me up and we had no real plan so ended up seeing 'I Am Legend.' I didn't really like it. I thought it was boring for the most part. Of course the awesome dog had to get killed and I cried a little bit. After the movie went back to my neighborhood and sat in the car double-parked talking until about 3am when he went to walk me to my door and I saw the Pizzeta was still open so we decided to get pizza. We hadn't eaten dinner and my stomach was making noise. Ended up I only ate a couple bites of my slice and made RJ eat the rest. He ate his too fast so I didn't want to be the only one eating while we were trying to talk. Then we left and I went home. Nothing interesting to report though he did make me invite him to one of the Sheila Divine shows so he's supposed to be going w/ me to the Friday show, the 28th. We'll see. Since then he's texted a little so I guess stay tuned in case something juicy happens.

The next thing I'd talk about is my long run on Sat. w/ Tara but I already made a post about it so I'll skip that. So after I warmed up from the long run I tried to take a nap before the party but never fell asleep. Got ready to go and took the T out to Davis Sq. Tara was already there when I got there so I found her of course. Besides her and Joslynn I don't really talk to anyone else, plus w/ all the drama from my stupid blog stuff and the cliquy-ness there are some who'd rather not associate w/ me I think. There were lots of people there and lots of awesome food!! This potluck rocked! Somehow I ended up upstairs in the karaoke room listening to karaoke king and queen Axel and Jane. How I ended up doing a sober duet w/ Axel to 'Endless Love' I'm not sure but it was awful!!!! I was very nervous! That's when I started drinking more. Plenty of wine, up to the third floor for Flip Cup, back downstairs had some of Ethan's alcoholic milkshake concoction. Blah, too much mixing. Ended up back in karaoke at some point singing lots and lots of songs. The next day my voice hurt.

We finally left around 3am and we were trying to drive Joslynn home but she was giving us directions to Brian's b-day party, my guy from my b-day weekend. Sober Tara just wanted to get Joslynn home, no more parties, it was starting to snow. Joslynn was acting like she was texting him and she said he had tried to call me or something after our hook up I guess. Who knows how true any of that was in her state though it was kinda amusing. We saw her go inside her house so I don't know if she went back out to that party of not.

Sunday was very boring. I didn't feel that good and it had snowed overnight and rained Sunday so the streets were awful. I went to CVS to get some stuff and was walking in water halfway up my leg so didn't go outside much after that. Just one of those wasteful days.

I had a good scare last night!

(I love being scared but have a hard time finding scary situations.)

About 1am this morning I was looking for something on the telly to fall asleep to. Paranormal State was on so I thought I'd tune in; there was nothing else on. It's a new show on A&E. I saw the commercial for it when I was in MI w/ my brother. My brother is a big baby! and when we were younger I'd purposely try to scare him. I loved the movie 'The Exorcist' and my brother could not watch it because he was too scared. So I'd sneak in his room late at night when he was sleeping and in my best Linda Blair exorcist voice say things about 'your cunting daughter'.

If I bring it up now he gets mad. So I told him I would teach his 2 year old to tell him that she sees dead people. She repeats everything I say so I'd be very easy to do. He didn't appreciate that!

So anyway I'm watching this show very early this morning and this little kid says he sees dead people, specifically this guy Timmy who turns out was found dead near this little kids house but the little kid knows nothing about it. This is a reality-type show by the way, real people, real stories. Anyway I get bored w/ it so turn over to fall asleep. I sleep in a very tiny bed w/ my hound and we basically sleep right next to each other, head to head, last night she even had her legs stretched out over me, paws in my face basically, not the most comfortable.

At one point I guess she flinched or something, kinda like her panniculus reflex fired, and her arms moved and it felt like someone came up behind me and started choking me. I was totally freaked out and scared!!! I woke right up and quickly figured out what happened though I still turned around to make sure no one was behind me.

Thanks Beaky for scaring Mommy! It was awesome!

Haha!

Randy's old guitar teacher, Derrick, was just on the news for a segment talking about the popularity of Rock Band and Guitar Hero. When we lived in Brighton and were dating Randy was taking lessons from him and Randy had a little recital one time and I went to listen and met Derrick. Randy played 'Hey Bulldog.' I think I also went to some open mic thing Derrick did or maybe it was to see him in a band, can't quite remember, it's a very vague memory from several years ago.

Another White Hen conversation

White Hen cashier (the guy): So you came all the way here in this nasty weather for Spaghetti O's and Cheetos?

Me: I just live right there. (pointing) That's why I came here, I didn't want to go far.

Excuse me, let me buy whatever the hell I want w/out the comments. I'm hungry, hungover, have no food in the house to eat, and I need a boat to get down the street so since White Hen is right there, I didn't have many options and Spaghetti Os are always good, even in your 30s!

Today's Fuck You goes to...

Brett Favre. I feel bad giving it to you but I went w/ my knee-jerk reaction after hearing the news.

It's so hard to give out just one though so lets give out some more Fuck Yous to all those athletes out there doping and ruining your sports.

p.s. Miami won so they won't be winless this season, Pats won too, blah!

I'm hungry!

Thanks Tara

for an awesome run this afternoon. Our scheduled long run for this weekend was 9 miles. We didn't go to Joslynn's long run this morning because I was out late and we didn't want to have to get up so early. I didn't go to bed until 4am got up at 10am and by 11am was planning to meet Tara to go run on our own. We weren't sure of the sidewalk conditions but decided we'd go for it anyway. We ran along the Charles on the Boston side, over the Mass Ave. bridge, down Mass Ave. to Harvard Sq. and then some more before we turned around at 4.7 miles. We got a little off track on the way back but got to give Tara a little tour of MIT and point out where my office was. We got to 9 miles about a mile away from my place so we started walking but it was so cold we kinda started running again to get back quicker. Walking to Tara's car we passed Starbucks and I saw RR in there so on the way back from Tara's car to my house I stopped in Starbucks and had RR buy me a green tea latte. I had a hat on but the end of my ponytail was exposed and it was frozen together like an icicle. Yuck! Once I got home and into the shower I had the hot water on full blast but it still wasn't hot enough. I'm still cold! Gotta get ready for the CRC Holiday Party tonight, starts at 6:30p.

The Bill Rodgers Jingle Bell 5K that was to be tomorrow night has been postponed to the 23rd because of the snow we're supposed to get tonight. That sucks because I doubt I'll be in Boston on the 23rd so I can't run it.

It seems everytime I leave Boston and return, I'm reminded how shitty the T is

This time I was getting on the T at South Station and I had my CharlieCard. It has a monthly pass on it. When I swiped it the door wouldn't open and said 'Smart Cards Only' so I tried again and it said 'See Agent.' Then I moved to a different turnstile and it opened but instead of using my monthly pass it took $1.70 off the balance I had on the card. I had some money on it already for when people came to visit and it stole my money. I don't want to pay any extra for the crappy T. So now I'm on the phone w/ customer service. I had to explain the story, give my address and CharlieCard #. My cell phone is so shitty while I was on hold after giving most of the info, my phone turned off. Luckily it came right back on and I had to call back and speak to someone else and give the rest of the info. So I'm supposed to get a refund. My reference # is 393528 and it'll take 4-6 weeks to process. If I don't hear anything in that time I have to call back w/ the reference #. Stay tuned...

Weekend Recap: Hangin' w/ my babies

I pretty much told the story of Friday already so I'll start w/ Saturday.

As I predicted, I was woken up by Ella when she got up in the morning w/ my mom and sister-in-law. I pretended like I was still asleep but it wasn't very restful. I went to bed too late and since I slept on the coach I was in the middle of the living room so couldn't really hide from any noise.

I can't remember exactly what I did this weekend. Everything blends together. Lots of playing w/ the kids, mainly Ella. I taught her how to do CPR, how to neuter a cat, how to make an abdominal incision and sew it up. Lots of useful things for a toddler to know. Oh yeah, we went to Target and spent a while there. I bought Ella a groomer's kit. It came w/ a kitty and a kitty carrier, scissors, nail clippers, blow dryer that actually turns on and makes noise, plus a bunch of other pieces. She really likes it! I also did a short run in my brother's neighborhood.

Later that night we went to a surprise party for my brother's 30th birthday. He's usually very nosey and you can't keep secrets from him, somehow he finds out but he genuinely seemed surprised. We had dinner there and stayed until 10 or so but then the kids had to get to bed. At the party I brought my laptop and all my music and we picked up a pair of cheap speakers and I played music for Ella while she danced for everyone. After the party me and mom brought the kids home and my brother and sister-in-law went to my brother's work holiday party. I guess my brother got really wasted and after coming home spent a couple hours outside in the freezing cold w/ the neighbor until 3am drinking whiskey. Evidently they were very loud and woke my mom up and she couldn't get back to sleep. I didn't hear a thing.

So of course on Sunday my brother was very hung over. My sister-in-law had to work so me and mom had to take care of the kids. My bro was useless in bed. So we played around all day and my mom and I took shifts so we could both get a long run in. When she got back I went out and ran 8 miles again around my brother's neighborhood. It was very boring! The neighborhood isn't big enough for that long of a run so I eventually found another neighborhood to run in too and luckily I didn't get lost.

For dinner we had Jimmy John's subs which I was happy to get. I used to get them all the time in Manhattan, KS during vet school but they aren't around in Boston. Got my usual Turkey Tom, cucumbers instead of tomato. It was yummy! Had leftover birthday cake for dessert.

Today was similar. Just playing around all day w/ the kids. Went to the mall so they could ride the merry-go-round and ate at Rainforest Cafe. Mom made meatloaf for dinner. That was yummy too! Now trying to get JJ to go to sleep. He went down really well but for some reason Ella went in his room and woke him up and now he won't go back to sleep. He's just screaming his head off!!!

I'll leave here early tomorrow morning and stop in Niagra Falls again to run. Get back home to my mom's around 5-6p. Leave Wed morning from my mom's, drive back to Albany, and take a bus from there back to Boston. What a trip! At least I got to see my babies for a little bit. And I got some Christmas presents.

Off to Michigan

So my trip on Thursday from Boston to Albany wasn't so bad on the bus. There weren't very many people on it but the ones that were there represented some of the typical crazies. The bus driver was awesome, very thorough in his job and all the announcements. He was talking me up as I boarded the bus, all friendly, not sure if it was a 'black guy's into me' thing but later when we stopped for a little break I was getting off the bus, walking down the few steps of the bus perfectly fine, not carrying anything but he reached out and grabbed my arm w/ both hands almost all the way up to my shoulder kinda aggressive and 'helped' me down.

At Riverside this black woman got on and sat right in the front behind the driver but when the driver got back on the bus he was kinda mad because he had put his stuff in that seat and I think she just moved it to sit there so he told her next time she had to ask because that was his stuff. She turned out to be a big weirdo. She was wearing some letter pinned to her back. It was a regular sized piece of white computer paper w/ cursive handwriting on it like a letter but the handwriting was small and filled up the whole page so I couldn't read it at all from the distance I was at. After our break I saw her walking back to the bus and she was walking backwards so you just saw this letter coming at you, plus it was enclosed in a clear sleeve for protection :0) While she was off the bus the 70+ year old veteran was just asking out loud to everyone what her deal was and why did she have that on her back. I realized a similar looking letter was also pinned to both her bags of luggage. When she got back on the bus the old guy was asking her about it I think and maybe she said she was an activist. I was trying not to pay attention and had headphones on.

In Albany, I had to wait for my mom for a bit to pick me up. I heard an interesting conversation w/ a cabby talking to this woman that maybe also was a cabby. They seemed to be friends. He was saying how he gave up a $300 fare to someone else, like that meant he was a nice guy but then he said

They were Chinese. I'm not a prejudiced person but I don't like Chinese people. And there must be something wrong if I'm going to give away a $300 fare.

So he was a jerk white guy that was in denial that he's a jerk and his friend was a black woman. What a guy! Obviously he's not prejudiced. He talks to black people for fuck's sake.

This morning at 7am started my trip from Eaton, NY where my mom lives to Rochester Hills, MI. We stopped on the way in Niagra Falls to go running. It was about 30 degrees so not really that cold but the area around the Falls was icy w/ all the mist freezing over on the paved paths. We managed to get in 5 miles and see the Falls. If we stop on the way back I'll get pictures. I've never been when it's that cold I don't think. There was hardly any tourists there so most of the shops were closed. We found one place that had sandwiches so this 75 or so year old man was working there and made our food. When we walked in he was sitting at one of the tables, no one else was in there, except the woman sitting w/ him. She was older too, maybe his woman, and she had very, very fake blonde hair and a red shirt on that said 'Red Diva.' She kinda reminded me of my Great Aunt Lo. Anyway Grandpa made us a veggie burger for mom and egg salad for me. It took a very long time but he made the egg salad kinda from scratch. He started w/ a hard-boiled egg and proceeded from there. I was kinda impressed. We finally got out of there to deal w/ our parking meter. The meter was real weird. It had a camera on it so if your time elapsed it would take a picture and send you a ticket. Luckily there was a grace period before that happened where you could throw in more money and not get a ticket. We had to do that a bunch of times because we kept running out of time but luckily no violation.

Made it into Canada okay. I also got to listen to my all-time fav radio station, 102.1 The Edge, out of Toronto. I started listening back when I was an undergrad at SUNY Buffalo and we got that station. I was so sad when I moved to Boston and no more The Edge. Anyway I got to listen for awhile today. Just before going back into the US for Michigan we were low on gas so got off at an exit to get some. We drove around for over 30 minutes trying to find gas on empty and fearing we'd completely run out. Mom started stopping in the middle of the street to ask random pedestrians or wave at cars to roll down their windows to help us because w/ each person they'd give directions but we wouldn't find the place. It took a few tries but then we found some gas. Mom said it reminded her of the Amazing Race when the people ask random strangers to physically take them to a place because that was what she was about to do.

So now w/ a full tank of gas we made our way back into the US. At the border the patrolman I guess was trying to be funny and asked

"Do you have any Canadian cabana boys hidden in the back?" I said "I wish." I'm not sure if he heard me so my mom repeated what I said and then added "She must be looking." Patrolman then said "That's not good." Then I was thinking, Oh Shit, why can't you just keep your mouth closed. He's going to pull us over because I'm being a smart-ass. Luckily for us his response was "That's when you settle." So I guess he was saying That's not good that I'm looking for someone because that's when you settle on anyone. Might be true, but not the case yet for me.

Finally made it to my brother's 10.5 hours after leaving my mom's. So weird to see my niece and nephew. Hadn't seen them since Easter. They grow up so fast! JJ is now walking all over on his own, he's 1y 2m, and has all kinds of teeth. Ella's basically potty-trained and saying all kinds of stuff at 2y 9m. She loves to dance so we were dancing in the living room to the music channels on cable. We had it on the rap channel and she was calling it 'the nasty music' and shaking her butt all over the place, then we'd turn it to bluegrass and she'd yell 'Yippee Caillou' and 'Yee-haw.' If we put it on the metal station she'd do headbanging moves. Awesome! Can't wait until tomorrow. Too bad I'll be exhausted because I'm staying up while everyone else is asleep and then they'll wake me up really early in the morning.

Big scare Thursday night!

I deleted a large portion of my blog late Thursday night. I was trying to update the Amazon links in my sidebar and ended up accidentally deleting a ton of the blog. I was freaking out because I wasn't sure if it was gone forever and I've been blogging all this crap since Aug 2002 so that's a big portion of my life's history gone plus all the hard work RR has put into it. I thought he was going to be furious w/ me.

I was trying to delete one of the Amazon images from the server because I wanted to change the size of it and I didn't realize that the main folder for my weblog was also highlighted so when I hit Delete it started deleting everything in my weblog folder. It took me a bit to respond because I didn't expect that to happen and then finally I hit stop but it was too late. When I first went to check the site to see how it looked, it looked the same so for some reason I thought maybe the computer decided to have my back and didn't really delete all that stuff because why the hell would anyone do that? But then I ended up reloading the site and it was a mess.

I wanted to contact RR ASAP so first I tried emailing but only had the patience to wait a minute w/out a response. My cell phone doesn't work at my mom's so then I had to go downstairs and call RR from her phone but no one answered. (Jenn, when will you ever switch your cell phone to voicemail and not the office main line???) I repeatedly called until I got an answer and talked to RR.

I told him I did something really bad and he started to freak out. He thought it was something like I screwed him over somehow so when I told him what I did he didn't really seem worried. He said we should have a backup and it would be fine. So now she's back up w/out losing any data. Now I'm afraid to mess w/ things so I'll take some time off. That works out anyway because I'm at my brother's and he doesn't have wireless so I can't use my laptop. I'll just use his once in awhile like I am right now.

Thank TimeMachine for backing the server up properly!

I'm out

I'm leaving in a couple hours and will be gone for a week. I'm taking the lovely bus today from Boston to Albany. Will get to Albany at 3:50p. My mom will be waiting for me there to drive 2.5 hrs to her house, it's about an hour SE of Syracuse, assuming the weather is good. She lives in the middle of nowhere so there's always more snow to deal w/. She's nice to pick me up in Albany because if I take it closer to her house it's just a nightmare. We stop at every little town inbetween and a 5-hour drive by car turns into 8-9 hrs.

Then tomorrow will start the second leg of the trip. We will drive about 9 hours west to my brother's in Michigan. A 2-day journey for me. Yuck! I would rather just fly but my mom wants to drive and not alone so I have spend more time traveling instead of w/ my niece and nephew. I hate to waste vacation days for traveling but I guess it's not so bad since I get 4 weeks of vacation a year and have trouble using it all up.

Anyway, will get to MI Friday afternoon and then have until we leave Tuesday morning to hang w/ my 2.5 year old niece and 1 year old nephew. I haven't seen them since Easter :0(

I'm not sure how much internet access I'll have when I'm there but if I have some I'll try and post.

I hope my girls don't have too much fun w/out me this weekend!

RobReed HATES that I use Facebook

I just started recently but I didn't expect to spend much time w/ it. I knew I had friends on it but I just wasn't interested. I have my own weblog so who needs Facebook.

I got 'invited' by my friend Andrew, very random, we took a summer class together. I joined and thought that would be it but since then I've accumulated some friends and actually do stuff w/ it everyday. It's pretty useless stuff but it's very easy to deal w/ so I end up doing it. It is a good way to keep in touch w/ people that you might not otherwise but since it's in this centralized place you can manage things easily and quickly.

My little comeback to RR is that I have my blog address on my profile so Facebook can hopefully increase my viewership.

Most of the Facebook interactions w/ my friends are not possible w/ my blog. I can only just keep posting and hope someone reads and spend some time w/ my site on a regular basis so people have a reason to keep coming back. So I'll still need Facebook to keep up w/ the friends.

Anyway, Facebook is in the news and it's not a good thing.
