'Flame-haired' sounds ridiculous

Why that term?

Why not just redheads like you use at the top of the article?

'Flame-haired' I think conjures up too many images versus the less dramatic redhead.

An update on the ape art exhibit

I contacted Al Setka today by email. He's the Director of Communications for the Great Ape Trust of Iowa. I wondered how those of us not in the vicinity of Zanzibar, the coffee shop in Iowa that is exhibiting the paintings, could get ahold of one of the paintings. I got a very quick reply with some great news!

Hello Heather,
Thanks for your email and your interest in Great Ape Trust of Iowa. As of this afternoon,
15 of the 16 paintings have been sold, which is beyond our most optimistic expectations.
We are about to open www.GreatApeStore.org, our on-line gift shop next week. At this
point, we anticipate paintings being offered on the site either through retail sales or an on-
line auction. That would most likely be in early 2008.
Thanks again for your interest.
Sincerely,
Al

I was thinking that selling them online would be a great idea! Now hopefully we'll be able to.

I have a bet on the World Series

Juan and I made a bet. I took the Rockies because there is no way in hell I could root for the Sox. So the bet is just the loser has to buy the other a steak and wine. This was Juan's pick and it sounded okay so that was the agreement. Since Juan lives in Florida who knows when the winner will get their prize but we assume we'll see each other at some point.

Doesn't look so good for me. The Rockies look pathetic.

Looks like I'll be hitting the Capital Grille sometime in the future or maybe Ruth's Chris.

If I win I'd prefer Shula's Steakhouse. I went there once in DisneyWorld but ended up walking out because I wasn't a big steak eater and couldn't justify spending that much on some meat I probably wouldn't enjoy. I'd be willing to try it again, on Juan's dime of course.

Check out the gorilla baby!

Here's an article w/ pic but don't forget to check out the YouTube video as well.

Now it makes sense

We got this email at MIT yesterday.

Please be advised that at approximately 6:30 a.m. this morning, October 23, 2007, MIT and Cambridge Police responded to a report of an armed assault and battery that had just occurred at 500 Memorial Drive, Next House . Officers responding to Next House discovered the victim, an MIT student who was assaulted by a female known to him. The female suspect is not affiliated with MIT and was arrested by the Cambridge Police at the scene. The male student was transported to a local hospital and is now in stable condition.

When I read it I was thinking, dude, that must be some tough chick to assault a guy and send him to the hospital.

Then I read this article online about it. I guess it's quite easy when you sneak into his room while he's asleep and start stabbing him.

The article is inconsistent w/ the email we got though. The article says he's in serious condition and that the girl was taking classes at MIT; so I would say she is affiliated with MIT then.

Let's put the following phrase to rest

It's totally overused.

"I'm a very competitive person."

Think about it. Are you sure? or do you just think you are??

Nobody likes to lose but that doesn't make you a competitive person.

Check out the "Apes Helping Apes" art exhibit

You can find a link to a slide show of the art on display at Zanzibar in Des Moines, Iowa. The link is in the middle of the article on the left hand side. I want to buy one. They should have this art for sale online.

Thanks for ruining my birthday Red Sox!

actually though all the blame lies w/ Cleveland.

Way to fuck it all up! Take out my Yankees and then up 3-1 in the Sox series and go home losers after game 7. Outscored 30-5 in the last 3 games.

Pathetic!

Let's go Colorado, now that hurts to say.

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

I had an awesome weekend for my birthday. It involved lots of fun drinking, dancing, and hooking up on Friday night, more eating, more drinking, and Wicked at the Opera House on Saturday, running a 3 mile race Paddy's Shillelagh Shuffle, postrace party hot dogs, fried dough, beer, the movie '30 Days of Night', Domino's and Cold Stone trying to get the Sox to lose on Sunday. Now I'm sooooo exhausted but it was totally worth it and I don't think I'll ever forget all the stuff I crammed in this weekend.

C'mon Boston, let's kinda follow those French!

I just came back from France at the end of September. Good thing I wasn't there for this. What a nightmare! And believe me, the metro in Paris and the rail I took to and from the south of France was so amazing, especially compared to the atrocious MBTA. What I'm suggesting is basically the opposite of what's happening in France. I want T-riders to boycott the MBTA to show our disapproval of their service. Otherwise they will continue to raise prices and have sub-par service. I know it would be a major burden to those that count on the T to boycott it but that's what it'll take to bring about some change. It really would only take one day of no one riding the T for them to get the message.

I haven't had much time to put this together but I was thinking of starting out a boycott on like a Sunday when it's easier to not take the T, versus a work day when you might not have other options, and just see what kind of a response is received. I wanted to have some kind of tally on my site where you would click something and say 'Yes, I plan on not riding the T that day,' so we can see how many people are actually on board.

I was going to make it this Sunday October 21, which is also my birthday, and I know it's late notice, but hey! if you want, post a comment here letting me know you won't take the T this Sunday. We can arrange further days w/ more notice in the future.

Here's to sticking it to the T, I hope!

Dr. Watson, just zip it!

Man oh man did you ruin your reputation!

and how can anyone feel bad for you after what you're quoting as saying.

What a shame!

Happy First Birthday JJ!!

even if I'm the only one that knows when it is. My nephew turned 1 today, October 11, 2007. Since it's his first birthday, yesterday I called my mom to confirm that today was the day and not yesterday or tomorrow or something. She told me Yes, it is tomorrow (meaning today the 11th) so yesterday I shipped his present 2 day shipping to get there tomorrow, Friday, one day late, no big deal. Then my mom calls me at 7 this morning to say that it was yesterday (the 10th) because she had called my brother and they said it was yesterday. So then I feel kinda bad and stupid that I don't even know when my nephew's birthday is but don't know why I had it written down as the 11th. So I called my dad this morning and he said it was yesterday too.

So tonight I call my brother to find out about JJ's first birthday and mention that it's weird that I thought it was today and I didn't want to be insulting and ask them to check the birth certificate, though I really thought they should, just to make sure, but as we were on the phone my sister-in-law gave the birth certificate to my brother and he reads out that his birthday is the 11th but at this point I think he's just kidding and saying that to be funny but after a couple minutes he says that it's true, today is his birthday and they were just stupid and for some reason thought it was yesterday. So yesterday they had his party and even my sister-in-law's family came over and no one questioned the birthday, except me of course. Holy shit, if it wasn't for me, my family would be celebrating poor JJ's birthday on the wrong day.

Guess it could be worse, they could have forgotten it all together. At least they were a day early!

Sorry JJ you have stupid parents. At least your Auntie Heather is smart!!! Hope you and Ella take after me :0)

I'm baaaaaa-aaaaaaaaaack

Back from France. Got back a week ago Saturday. Had a great time! It'll take me a long time to get a post together. I have 1200+ pictures and saved receipts from lots of stuff so hopefully I can somehow reenact everything I did.

Since getting back I've been sick, probably the combo from jet lag, working late into the night catching up on things, not taking the best care of myself.

So anyway I ran the Tufts 10K today. I ran w/ my friends Tara and Janet. They both did really well. I didn't do so hot. I was ok until the last mile when I just lost it.

Better luck next time. Hopefully I'm not sick and I'll have more miles under my belt.

Buy Me Stuff

Really?

Thanks, very nice of you.

First, check my Amazon.com Wish List and there's no need to worry that I already have it or won't use it.

Tip: Check around for better pricing. Amazon's pricing is usually good, but not always the best available.

A quick Froogle search can't hurt.
