Weekend Recap: Dog For Free

Just a joke, couldn't help it! So this Friday I was barely at work because of Cleo. When I got home I didn't hear a peep out of her as I went up the elevator and into the apt and when I'm with her she doesn't make any noise. Forget how I spent Friday night, I think watching lots of TV shows online or DVD: catching up on Nip/Tuck and House. Stayed up too late, kept trying to go to bed but I had so much on my mind. I'd start falling asleep watching my laptop and then didn't want to drop it on the floor so would put it away and try to go to bed but it wouldn't work so I'd start watching again and so on until maybe after 4am I feel asleep. Got up around noon on Sat. when rr called. Think I watched more shows and moped around real bad. At one point I was on the phone w/ rr and started crying and he started laughing at me. I couldn't stop crying and he couldn't stop laughing and jenn was in the background yelling at him for laughing at me crying. He told me to come over so he could watch Cleo and I could go running because Jenn was going to a friend's house so I went over late afternoon and got to run 9.5 miles but again my arms froze and I had to stop. Again I got caught up on Survivor and Jenn came home and we got UBurger for the first time. I hadn't eaten all day so was starving but only the first bite of UBurger was good. Watched the Celtics lose and eventually went home around 1:30am. The 1.8 mile walk that late w/ the drunkards isn't so fun but I always forget my T pass and to leave while the T is still running.

Think I stayed up a bit when I got home watching shows and then to bed late and up around noon when rr called again. Ended up on the phone a lot today! Talked to Jen in Maine for a long time, then to Juan in Florida for a long time, Rebecca in Kansas for a long time. Had to fill them in on the Cleo situation, we're all vets! and still no good solution, and my trip to Australia.

Juan wants me to tell you all that if we're not married in 10 years April 27th, we will get married. Haha! Not sure how that would work so we'll see. I think he thinks he will be married by then, but I guess in case...he needs a backup plan. I don't really care about getting married at this point though 10 years is kinda a long time from now but I don't think I need to be married so if I'm not in 10 years I don't think I'd care, at least today I don't care. But if that's what Juan wants how can I say No?! He said he'd start saving today for my $10,000 diamond ring, though in 10 years I think I'd expect more than that :0) I still think of Juan as the very young, immature boy because I met him when he was 22 I think but I asked how old he was today and he said 28! I was shocked! I can't believe he's that old, even older than db, that freaks me out!!

It was great to catch up w/ everyone! Cleo and I made a trip to Petco and got a shock collar and muzzle to see if they would help. Came home and rr and Jenn came over w/ Shangri-La for dinner, yummy gross food, now I want to go finish my crap rangoons since it's 3:20am and I'm hungry again. Hold on! They tried to put my air-conditioner in the window but it was too risky and we didn't want it to fall 6 stories and kill people so that ended up being a waste. I have to call my fix-it guy to see if he can do it so I'm not responsible. Then we tried to experiment w/ Cleo. We put the no bark collar on her and left the room and stood by the elevators. She started howling right away but just kept doing it though you could hear her shaking her head like she could feel something and was trying to shake the collar off. Trouble is she didn't stop and I didn't want to get in trouble so we had to go back in the room. Then a while later I put the muzzle on and left the room again and you could hear her trying to get it off and she wasn't howling right away but then when she couldn't get it off she started howling, so the muzzle doesn't stop howling. Gotta return that thing. Ultimately I can return the no bark collar if I keep trying and no success. Tomorrow's plan is to give her ace and put the collar on. She doesn't seem to howl on ace because she's so sedated so the collar may not be a factor but in case she still trying to howl maybe it'll deter her, not sure. It's hard to test all this stuff out because she doesn't make any noise when I'm home. Will also call a behaviorist for a consult if not too expensive and then get some babysitters for short-term. I can't get fined so if it comes to that I'll just have to move out. Jenn is checking if her building has any open studios so maybe I can move there and then Cleo can go over there during the day and if not they might ask still if Cleo can come over during the day to be w/ Billy. Not sure if they'd go for that. Running out of options. If you have any let me know!

Weekend Recap: I'll never be alone...

because Cleo must be attached at my hip or she'll howl if I leave and get me kicked out of my new apt. I know I've been talking about this forever it seems though it's only been 10 days. This recap is actually from last weekend, though it'll be similar to this weekend's. I got Cleo back on Thursday night the 17th so couldn't make track. Friday was the first day I left her home alone when I didn't even get my 2 T stops to work and I already had the voice message that she was making noise and I went right back home. So since then I've been trying to deal w/ the problem and I'm exhausting my possibilities quite quickly. My sleep got real screwed up last weekend, going to bed 6am and sleeping late into the afternoon. I was on call over the weekend and had to go in on Saturday but got a call that Cleo was howling while I was there so had to get home as soon as I could. Stressful! Trying to take care of one animal at work and getting called about my animal at home. Made it home and she seemed fine. Ran Cleo to RR and Jenn's new place in Fenway, it's about 1.8 miles from mine and then they watched her while I tried to do a 20 miler. Only could get in 10 miles. It was late at night by then and my hands froze and I had no energy. Hung out at their place to eat pizza and watch all the Survivors I missed while in Australia. Jenn's brother was there and doesn't really like dogs so got stuck w/ two monsters while there, sorry Dan :0) Walked home real late so had to deal w/ drunk idiots. Went to bed real late and got up real late. Missed the Women's Trials, Janet didn't call me and Jen wasn't there anyway. Not sure what I did on Sunday.

At this point I decided to back out of the marathon. With all this craziness I haven't been able to really get in running and I can't just leave Cleo in more weird situations until I get her used to the current one, and I'm also on call at work and couldn't get a replacement, so I feel bad for screwing Tara w/ all this, it's her first marathon and we were supposed to do it together, but there are plenty of CRCers and her friends going to cheer for her so I still feel awful about it and I understand if she's upset about it. Hopefully we can get back on track, we haven't really been on our usually friendly terms since the whole Cleo situation emerged.

Monday was the Boston Marathon and I took Cleo out to Mile 23 where all the CRCers were cheering for our teammates.

Here's Coach Scott, Cleo and Me

bostonmarathon

Got there late but we still saw a bunch of people including Jos and Jake, Yay! We took the T out there but then walked back which was a disaster because we got caught up in so many people and diverged in the opposite direction we were trying to go, we had a vet appt. on Charles St. and ended up being 15 min. late which is embarrassing for me being a vet. The vet wasn't so helpful but gave us a prescription for ace as a short-term solution which is no fun to play around w/.

Started using the ace on Tues and had no problems Tues-Thurs that I know of but didn't use it on Friday because she was vomiting and then got called home from work by the property manager who also mentioned you get one warning then $100 fine, then $200 fine, then $500 fine and dog has to be removed in 3 days. Great way to start this weekend! tbc in next recap...

Thanks for stopping by!
