and I was perfectly content w/ Danity Kane, but this is just bonus!
These guys are doing it on a Piaggio Highway ride. Go to No Age Limit to read about their journey. I'd prefer to take the slower ride on my Vespa ET2, that I know longer have :0( but I could get another one for this epic ride. Anyone want to come? I won't do it alone.
So I just started reading the book Petite Anglaise this morning. I bought the book in the airport in Australia. Why did I buy it? Well the title is French and also says 'In Paris. In Love. In Touble.' the cover is cute and pink w/ a hotdog (dachshund) and it's a true story. "Petite Anglaise is the true story of one eventful year in the life of thirtysomething working mother Catherine Sanderson." So I guess I'd also say I would like a Heather Martin version of this, minus the motherhood. I want to live in Paris, or so I think so I buy into lots of things Parisian and French. Since I'm only on page 13 I can't say much about the book, it's fine so far but I just found out this woman also has a blog, just like me :0) Someday I'm supposed to turn my blog into a book, not sure how good it'd be and if it'd be more for a vet student audience or a more general audience but it has been mentioned (and there's always the movie too*) anyway just wanted to mention this book and blog.
I'm not sure exactly what color I tried on but this is the dress. I think it was a purple but I don't remember it being as light as this one below, though I don't pay much attention to detail most of the time.

Looked on Ebay and found one, but too small for me. Saw other very similar ones too but even smaller, size 0.
So this weekend I was supposed to go somewhere out of town w/ db because it was my only weekend that I'm not on some kind of call at work. We didn't have a good plan so while we did get out of town, it wasn't what I expected. I saw on Friday that Natasha Bedingfield was playing at Hampton Beach Casino on Sunday night in NH so wanted to go. I asked db if we could go, he said yes (points!) and i got the tickets. i should have checked first if she was playing in boston but i was too focused on the sunday show so after getting those tickets i saw she was playing the paradise this tuesday, i'd rather see her there, but when i looked for tickets none were available so i didn't have to feel bad for getting tickets for sunday. it would be something different at least. never seen a show at hampton beach casino.
i'm already forgetting how things went. i met db at my place after work on friday. hadn't seen him in a week so was happy to see him again. we ended up waiting until real late to eat dinner so didn't have lots of choice. took beaky-woo and walked over to shangri-la since they're open until 2. got some yucky fried food for myself and db's spicy stuff. met some weathered but lovely people while waiting outside for the food. beaky is always the conversation starter. we ate our food on the bench in front of the fire station on cambridge st while people watching. then to cvs for candy. got wildly cherry m&ms, not a big fan usually but these were limited edition or something and on sale so i thought i'd try them, and some sour patch kids, and 2L diet cokes were b1g1, perfect! made it home feeling yucky after the food and then bed.
saturday was a really hot nice day but didn't get out until the afternoon. took beaky running while db rollerbladed. she was exhausted to do 3 miles in the heat and i was dying after my 7 miles. it was tough! at least i had db's butt to keep me going. i was totally drained after that but managed to clean up and take a walk down near the pru. we stopped in lord n taylor so i could try on some expensive dresses. found a great nicole miller but $400+ was well out of my budget unfortunately. looked for it online elsewhere but no success at all. went to lir for a beer and more fried stuff, just fries for me. what happened to the usual bartenders?? not a good food day, especially after running 7 miles in that heat but i would make up for it on sunday. after lir walked back to the common and sat for a bit then home and eventually to bed.
sunday morning got to go to the paramount. db's first time. it was good but not great. i made the mistake of getting a cheese omelet since i hadn't tried one yet but your money is better spent on the pancakes or belgian waffles. that's two times in a row now i've screwed up. after the paramount we headed up to nh w/ beaky-woo, the weather was now crappy and rainy. we hung out w/ cb watching the red sox, eating more fried food: fish n chips, ice cream: cotton candy and fluffernutter flavors for me, blah! yes i felt sick, db warned us but it seemed like the right thing to do. after a little nap on cb's couch and the red sox winning in extra innings, boo! we left for the concert. made it there w/ time to spare, missed the opening band but i wanted to anyway, had time to find parking, get cleo to poop and have a drink before natasha came out. i didn't expect much from the show since it was in a bad location and i usually don't go to pop shows like this but i do love both her cds so it couldn't be that bad i figured. she sounded great and it was lots of fun. i would still like to see her at the paradise though since it's more intimate. made the drive home from nh, beaky stayed in the car for the show, we got more food on the way home and then to bed too late for a work night as usual. i'm tired. db took some videos from the show. i'll have to post one if he gives me.
spreading peace and love all around Boston :0)
C'mon guys, follow me!

Man this train was crowded. I had no space and some chick kept saying I was licking her leg. I think it was just my wet nose.

C'mon train, where are you? I want to get home before the riots.

Celtics fans post-finals game

It's still not here. Sometimes the T sucks, but it does let me on for free. 'Cause I'm 'America's Dog.'

Please stop pooping in my Boston Common. I found this pile of human excrement this morning when I was walking Cleo and was totally f'ing grossed out by it. C'mon, no dog does that! My park is not your crapper. Take it back to Borders! I thought it was clean in there.
Sincerely,
Heather Rose Martin

So I came outside this morning to find the big concrete pots outside my building and the adjacent businesses had been broken to pieces and the mess was being cleaned up.

Someone had also pushed the green USPS storage mailbox in the street and I caught the mailman moving it back.

This just happened while I was walking by. A man was standing by this traffic light when that black piece fell down on him or next to him. Weird.

Nice chair in the rode.

Suck it, Kid!
Friday night was most of my fun. Went to the MSMR dinner w/ DB for work. Got to dress up a little, thanks to Jenn for dress and shoes, and had free food. Drinks were not free, boo! Chris Gabrieli spoke and I thought it funny that he said we need to get kids interested in science and then after the dinner db and I went to see 'The Happening' and Marky Mark was a science teacher. Perfect solution! The movie wasn't that good, how could it be if it's an M. Night movie, but it was fun to see Marky Mark in this role. How far he's come since Fear, still one of my favorite movies ever! W/out Marky Mark I would be complaining so good thing he was cast. That's all I'll say.
Saturday and Sunday had me at work again doing rounds. No seminar to give today so I could have had some fun but db took off early on Saturday. After work on Saturday I didn't do much. A little laundry, a little cleaning, watched some movies. I did go running though, 5 miles. That was good. Sunday after rounds I went to Trader Joe's for some food. Then did some more running and watching movies. Eventually made it over to rr/j's at 10pm for the celtics. missed the last train so had to walk home at 1:15 this morning. didn't get to bed until about 3. i'm tired today. no the walk didn't take me that long, it's only about 35 min.
(yay, i'm now caught up!)
So P Lu and Dan came back to Boston on Thursday and Friday before they flew back to Kansas on Saturday. Thursday night they met db and I at Zen, the sushi place downstairs from my apt. We had plenty of soup and sushi, again playoffs were on the TV. silly to think the celtics are still playing basketball. does it ever end?
after sushi we walked over to finale. i've tried to go there w/ them 2 times previously but it is always too crowded. good thing this thursday night we could get a table. i was dumb and got the boston cream i think it's called. too chocolatey for me. should have gone w/ something else, next time i guess.
friday night we met the lus again. this time in the north end at lucia's. it was good too. i had the sea bass. i can always use more fish in my diet. then it was to mike's where i got stuff i shouldn't have that isn't that good anyway. i got halfmoons just because they were there but i shouldn't have because they aren't that good from mike's. anyway we proceeded to that new little park there w/ the water you can walk on and the chairs so we sat in the chairs and ate. eventually we called it a night. it was a little late and i had to work the next day.
spent saturday and sunday doing rounds at work and then staying at work to work on the seminar i had to give that monday. no fun for me. it sucked because db was staying all weekend and we spent the nights sitting in my place while i worked on my seminar. at least i had some company.
This is from May 30th weekend, long ago I know.
First, Friday night I had a reunion w/ Mark at Lir. Hadn't been there in quite a while as last time we met I think we tried BHP, and that was so long ago. Just not the same for a Mark/Heather outing. We need the Lir bartenders. Had our usual good time w/ plenty of beer, some food (goat cheese pizza and fries for me), awesome music, a little dancing (don't tell, Mark's shy about his dancing ;0)

knives

and the Celtics.

Mark is one of my most faithful blog readers. He always comes prepared w/ plenty of questions about the people, places and things I talk about. This time though was a bit different. He brought a little notepad he kept pulling out of his pocket to ask questions and to write stuff down.

He claims my blog contains plenty of movie-worthy material which normally would sound just silly but Mark actually makes movies so maybe one day it'll really come true. Gotta turn up the heat. There's plenty of other stuff that just has never made the blog for various reasons that I also tell Mark so there would be some juicy surprises, and definitely a fair share of nudity, boyz and grrls.
This guy stole my stool. The worst part about Lir is they take the stools away around 10 or 11, boo!

Next reunion was w/ the vet school girls and their hubbies. P Lu and Dan flew into Boston from KC and picked up me and Cleo Saturday evening. We made the trek up to S. Paris, ME getting there by 11 I think.
Jen had our fav raspberry chipotle black bean dip ready for us when we arrived.

James was sick so soon went to bed. The rest of us played Life.

Dan was the winner. Nice job Dan.

He decided not to go to college and became a pro athlete. I went to college and became an artist making no money, nice pick of the cards I had.
On Sunday we all went to Freeport including Cleo and finished off in Portland where we ate dinner and met up w/ DB after his trip to Montreal. For the first time, I, Heather Rose Martin, had a real boyfriend, not a fling or a secret thing, to introduce to the gang. Hummm, wonder what they thought? I heard James thought he was a playa! haha, because he talked to some girl in the restaurant or something. Silly James.
Jen named her bunny after me, Heather.

Hangin in Portland

She's been having lots of pain in her back right leg lately and I'm just not convinced it's totally real. She's been acting all mopey and not very interested in life. Tonight I took her out to potty and she howled her head off when she squatted to pee. This happens almost daily now when she squats to pee or poop. But then she'll pull me around outside like everything is fine. So I decided to take her on our usual run that we haven't done in a while. She did 3 miles perfectly fine and then we came inside and she was all excited, totally opposite of what she's been lately. So I took a video of it. Too bad she's been back to her howling in pain self since the video but here it is anyway.
so the night after the pops i was at agganis arena w/ michelle to see duran duran. she's a much bigger fan than me and had seen them a lot. i had only seen them do a free show at government center a while back when i lived here before vet school. hadn't seen michelle in forever, she's now living in nh and still working at harvard law and her daughter is almost 2 and i've never met her. we met in kenmore sq at uno's for dinner. i was so exhausted from the night before and working all day! no booze for me this night. got to catch up at dinner, got lots of scoop on the daughter and told the latest happenings w/ me. then walked on down to bu. caught a few songs from the opening band, your vegas. they were fine. so duran duran was pretty good, i had lots of fun dancing. they played longer than i thought and simon sounded great. he looked pretty great too, at least what i could see, he was a bit blurry for me, i had a floor seat but in the second section. i'd have to say i was more into him than i ever was before. he was never my favorite. it was a good show, glad i went!
I went to Symphony Hall for this on Tuesday May 27th w/ Jason. He was on some trip that had him in Cali for a bit on busyness and then a quick stop in Boston to do our thang. The night started off weirdly. I got kinda dressed up because it was the Pops and I felt like I was going on a date w/ Jason which was a bit weird because I have a boyfriend and he was w/ me when I was getting ready. I told him I had had sex w/ Jason, that was about a year ago, same situation actually, we went to see The Cowboy Junkies w/ the Pops. I think I felt some weirdness because the last time I saw Jason it was weird because I went to a Sheila show w/ him that we had planned a while before and then I ended up meeting db and he went to a Sheila show w/ me the day before I went w/ jason and that was the first time i slept w/ db and made things weird the next night w/ jason because he figured things would go like last time, which they might have except i did get sick that night and as i'll explain i got sick this time too. anyway so jason lives in mississippi so i rarely see him. so we met as usual at jury's before the show. i ended up having 2 martinis, no food, bad idea. then we cabbed it to symphony hall. jason ended up ordering a bottle of shiraz i think and i proceeded to drink most of it i think. the pops were great and so was natalie though i didn't recognize much of what she did. i had to leave actually to go get sick in the bathroom. i remember sitting on the toilet puking redness through my legs and getting it on my dressy, dry clean only, black n white clothes. still need to dry clean them. i was a mess. spent the rest of the show in the bathroom, maybe 4 songs, not sure. after i left the bathroom i had to call jason to see where he was and we found each other outside. i don't remember much of what happened after that. apparently we were waiting outside and db was coming to pick me up. i thought he'd just pull up to me and i'd get in the car. jason and i were having some conversation that i can't remember and he's mentioned a few times but no details to jog my memory. next thing i know db is walking up to us and introducing himself to jason. not sure what they said to each other, i was out of it. i said my goodbyes to jason and we took off. i don't think db appreciated my drunkenness and brought me home to pass out and then he went out w/ his friends. he came back to my place late that night, 1am?? and i think we had a lovely fight. oh the memories.
I'm gonna miss you :0)
(you gotta watch the whole clip!)
i can start w/ thursday the 22nd because it was a fun day. started out w/ me neutering a rabbit, using a prescrotal incision. it didn't go perfectly smooth, it was my first time doing it this way, but i wasn't afraid :0) and got the job done w/ help from my fellow postdocs. i had to leave the surgery early to go get an IUD of all things. maybe dumb to do in the middle of a work week, in the middle of surgery but it was only fitting to mess w/ rabbit balls and then get my female parts brutally poked at. yes it did hurt and yes i'm usually good w/ pain, i'd say i was good w/ this pain, but it was still painful none the less. i'd recommend getting one inserted when you have your period as your cervix will be more dilated and not so hard to implant the device, i did not have my period and suffered. i also have to admit i've been crampy ever since getting it almost 2 weeks ago and now i'm getting my period and yes it is worse than usual just as they said, but hey i won't be having any babies, i'm 99% sure of that.
friday night was at the moment unmemorable, oh no i take that back. was stuck at work until after 9 because of a last minute late day work thing. was happy to finally get home and just relax watching stuff on my laptop i think.
spent most of saturday relaxing, was on call, and luckily no call.
decided to try a nice run on sunday. took cleo for 3 miles, then brought her home and went back out. was running on the cambridgeside of the charles, getting close to 8 miles when i got whacked in the shins by a kinda big kid on a razor scooter. since blood was running down my left leg, the cut was fresh and i wasn't sure how deep, and i was right near MIT i went to MIT medical and ended up getting 3 sutures so i didn't have a scar.
my abstract freckles w/ sutures pic :0)

after that ordeal was over, i ran home, it was just over a mile, i had to get home somehow and that was the quickest and easiest way even if i did just have my leg closed up. needed to shower, i was soooo smelly, then had to go back to MIT to get the pager because i was primary person on rounds for monday the holiday. after that was all done i met rr/j at fanueil hall and got halfmoons and watched around through the north end to boston beer works for dinner. don't get the watermelon ale, tastes like water, guess i should have known.

spent monday at work for about 3.5 hrs doing rounds. wasn't so bad, very quiet. since it was such a nice day out i decided instead of doing more work i would do outside things. finally made my way to Sweet for cupcakes. had to go after rr/j told me about it and said how awfully sweet they were. of course when i got there i couldn't just get one so first got 3 but then saw a discounted price for 4 so got 4. then walked home from there, back bay mass ave. ate one of the cupcakes on the way, the lemon one, did not agree at all w/ rr that they were too sweet, for proof, i ended up eating all 4 of the cupcakes that day, oops. yes i wanted to barf them up but i keep the calories in until my tummy went crazy later on that night.

after i made it home i took cleo to boston common to sit on the grass while i read stuff for journal club. she wouldn't settle down and kept walking over my face since i was laying down. after an hour or so i couldn't take it anymore so we went back home to work.

db showed up and we took a long walk from my place out as far as D St all along the water and then back.

my legs were definitely sore at the end from the cumulative effects of the 9 miler on sunday and the inflammation from the scooter bashing, walking for 3.5 hrs straight doing rounds and then the long walk w/ db.
i have more stories starting w/ tuesday but i'm tbc in another post
Thanks for stopping by!
