Who wants to ride cross-country w/ me?

These guys are doing it on a Piaggio Highway ride. Go to No Age Limit to read about their journey. I'd prefer to take the slower ride on my Vespa ET2, that I know longer have :0( but I could get another one for this epic ride. Anyone want to come? I won't do it alone.

I use frozen peas too

just not on my girl parts though. Works well on my neck! I think this is a great idea. If I was a guy I'd be very excited to recuperate w/ my March Madness, hopefully my team would make it in though.

Basketball and no babies, yay!

If I die...

RobReed, you have to take care of Cleo! For real, sorry, but she loves you so much.

Right now I'm sitting in my office and the fire alarm is going full blast non-stop, just a constant awful noise that is killing my ears. Good thing Jennie put her scarf over the alarm in our office because it's too loud, it's still loud w/ the scarf but blood isn't pouring out of my ears yet.

About 15 min. ago this voice came over the intercom saying there was an emergency and to evacuate so we all took the stairs down the 8 flights, we're on the top, and it was painful for me after my 18.6 mile race yesterday. So we're standing outside watching for the okay to go back in and my boss says he thinks it's okay to go back and he has an important phone call so we all follow him into the elevator as the alarms are still going off and make it to the 8th floor, him assuring us we'll be okay :0) Now I'm in my office and this alarm is still going!!! I'm gonna go deaf!

News Flash: The Bad Boy Family had disbanded

Just found out my roomies found an apt. I'm still looking. Have two places to look at today and hope the first place is the one this time. I don't think the second place is worth it so I'm really counting on the first.

This was us when we were getting along.

bbf

Maybe someday I'll do a 'my life w/ rr' post but it would take lots of time and energy. I can try though.

so the kinda short version that some of you know, i met rr in 8th grade. i moved into his neighborhood and liked him instantly when we met. we didn't go to the same middle school but we did go to the same high school. we had a little silly relationship in 9th grade, a little more serious thing maybe the summer before 10th grade, then we dated other people the rest of high school but i always ran to him when i was in trouble and it caused trouble w/ my relationship w/ ian. in 12th grade we sat next to each other in physics which was weird but okay until i went to his house one night and things got a bit out of hand and i told ian and he told rr to back off and i didn't talk to rr after that but i still had to sit next to him everyday. then one day my dad came home and said he talked to rr and he was going to the same college as me. lovely. so i did run into him in college and one time we even went out to lunch at the end of freshman year. i was still w/ ian at the time, he was still in high school and got some info that rr was a millionaire and freaked out on me that i would leave him for rr. anyway, nothing happened, i went home for the summer. sophomore year i went back to UB and ian came too so now we were all together again. ian and i broke up around the same time rr and i started running into each other more often. so basically when ian and i broke up, i got together w/ rr though he had a gf already, she got the boot. so we basically were together the next 6 years, living together, moved to boston together. we broke up a long time ago, dec 98/jan 99 and didn't speak for a bit after that but eventually we started talking again though we had some trouble because my new boy was jealous and didn't want me to see rr, though somehow everyone got over that because we all eventually hung out along w/ other boys i had after that. rr started dating jenn way back when and we met and somehow we started all hanging out and it's been that way since. i did move away for 4 years for grad school but we still kept in touch all the time then, and now the last 2 years we've lived together. so it's a long weird history and i can fill in more details some other time.

Wanna clone your dog?

At first read I thought this was crazy but then I thought about it for 30 seconds and changed my mind, or just proves I'm crazy too but I think I would totally do this for my beloved Cleo someday if price came down under $50,000 like they're speculating. Pet Cemetery is one of my all-time fav scary movies so I'd be willing to die at the hands of my cloned hound just to keep her around forever. Now I'm getting creeped out...

Tornadoes are scary

Glad I've never experienced one, too bad for these people, even though I lived in Manhattan, Kansas for 4 years.

Coming from Boston I had no clue when it came to tornadoes. I felt like there should be some crash course when you show up to tell you the drill so that it wasn't Spring semester first year finals week and I get woken at 5am to the sound of a siren that I have no clue what it is and my lovely roommate Jonathan is up watching the Weather Channel and tells me to go back to bed. So I did. I still had no clue what the siren meant, that someone had seen a funnel cloud or something touch down in our town, and chance of tornadoes was high. I didn't realize the seriousness until I went to class and everyone was talking about it. It didn't help that I lived in a house w/ no basement and no shelter to go to.

It usually happened same time every year, kinda. It always seemed to correspond to finals for me. Next place I lived I had a basement. One time Becca Lu drove over w/ her 3 cats and toad, I don't think she had Boden her dog yet, because she didn't have a basement. Who wants to hang out in a basement though? Most of the time I just looked out the window :0)

What happened more frequently were the scariest thunderstorms ever. They were just crazy and happened way too often for me. The wind was soooo bad. One time the power lines came down and the live wires were sparking and caught the tree outside my bedroom window on fire and I had to call 911 but nothing happened for a long time because the fire dpt. was responding to a building that had collapsed. Eventually the power got turned off. I was home alone, it was finals, middle of the night, no power in the house and I was ready to make a run for it w/ Cleo. Maybe that's when they cut the power to the wires. It was awful!

Let's see if I have old posts about it.

I love Tuesdays and the Beacon Hill Pub

Sorry if there's typos, I'm having trouble typing after 3 beers and running 8 miles and barely any food or water.

Josylynn and I have been meeting at the BHP every Tues. for awhile now. Our bartender Carrie is awesome and we love her!!

So I got home from work and needed to go running. I only needed to do 3 but I was in a bad mood, db was rude to me and i was pissed about it so i ended up doing 8 miles instead of 3. barely got done in time to take cleo out, she ate a ton of billy's food and was bad and needed to poop, and meet j at bhp.

talked to db and squared away the rudeness. hopefully it won't happen again. we had a good time j and i at bhp as usual. met the day not GAY bartender. he liked the remake of texas chainsaw as did i so that started our conversation. anyway, j and i kept ourselves to 3 beers so j could make the t home. i thought it wasn't going to work when 2 guys came in and wanted to play darts w/ us. we told them we'd be there next week if they made it there earlier we'd play them.

what else to say. last night i had a couple dreams i remember. i was video chatting w/ someone as they snorted coke w/ their friends. very disturbing! and next dream i was going down on this chick, i remember taking off her pants and underwear and just before i went in for you know what, i woke up. the funny thing is i know her from work, not that i see her that often, but when i do how can i not think of this.

um, other than that, have contacted a couple people about apts. through craigslist and they've both been scams. get these emails back about how they're in africa or london and need me to fill out info...

guess i should go to bed now.

PROGRESSIVE INFLAMMATORY NEUROPATHY, PORK PLANT WORKERS - USA: (INDIANA, MINNESOTA)

A ProMED-mail post http://www.promedmail.org ProMED-mail is a program of the International Society for Infectious Diseases http://www.isid.org

[1] Date: Fri 1 Feb 2008 Source: Associated Press (AP) [edited] http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hqaebpM28dOdHO2Fop0x-o06mxqQD8UHHT4O2

Investigators are closer to understanding a mysterious illness reported by pork plant workers in Minnesota (MN) and Indiana (IN) and now have pinned a name on it, officials said. CDC (US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) issued a report on Thursday [31 Jan 2008] summarizing the investigation so far that gives the condition a name, progressive inflammatory neuropathy.

Minnesota officials said they were broadening their investigation to thousands of former employees at the Quality Pork Processors Inc plant in Austin, MN, going back a decade to when a powerful compressed air system was installed to remove brain tissue from pig heads.

Investigators have been trying to determine whether pig brain tissue, sprayed into the air as droplets during removal by the compressed air system, was inhaled by workers and made them sick. If further investigation proves their theories true, they will have identified a rare, new condition that could shed light on a whole family of poorly understood disorders in which the body's immune system attacks the nerves or the sheath that surrounds them, the Star Tribune reported.

This "could have far reaching applications in terms of our understanding of the mechanism of disease," said Ruth Lynfield, Minnesota's state epidemiologist, who is heading the investigation [in Minneapolis]. Since December 2007, 12 meatpackers in Austin and 2 at a plant in Indiana have reported fatigue, numbness, and tingling in their arms and legs. A few are severely disabled; others have returned to work. Indiana health officials have declined to discuss the conditions of the affected workers there or say where they were employed, citing patient privacy laws.

All 14 employees worked near powerful compressed air systems that blow brains out of pig heads at what is known as the head table. Both plants have stopped using the process.

Lynfield said investigators are now looking for anyone who has worked near Quality Pork's head table since 1997. That's difficult because the plant employs about 1200 workers, many of them immigrants, and turnover is high. "But we feel it's important to look for prior cases," she said.

Investigators say they've ruled out toxins as a cause, and viruses or bacteria are unlikely because none of the affected workers reported infectious disease symptoms, such as fever, before the onset of their neurological symptoms. That would leave the brain tissue itself. Experts said the foreign pig tissue may have triggered the workers' immune system, which then attacked their own neural tissue.

Experts at the Mayo Clinic and New York's Columbia University are now trying to devise ways to test pig brain tissue against the immune cells of the sick workers, Lynfield said. It could be months before results are in, she said.

Investigation of progressive inflammatory neuropathy [PIN] among swine

slaughterhouse workers -- Minnesota, 2007-2008

On 29 Oct 2007, the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) was notified by a tertiary care provider of unexplained neurologic illnesses among workers in a swine slaughterhouse (plant A) in south east Minnesota. As a result, MDH initiated a detailed investigation at plant A to characterize the outbreak. This report describes the ongoing investigation and outbreak-control measures undertaken by state public health officials and CDC.

Plant A, located in south eastern Minnesota, employs about 1200 workers and processes 18 000 pigs per day. After being notified of the illnesses, MDH investigators initiated active case finding, interviewed workers at plant A, and reviewed the plant's occupational health and employment records. As of 28 Jan 2008, a total of 12 workers at plant A had been identified with confirmed (8 workers), probable (2), or possible (2) progressive inflammatory neuropathy (PIN) [see 'Box' below.] Illness onset ranged from November 2006 through November 2007. Median age of the 12 patients was 31 years (range: 21-51); 6 patients were female. All 12 patients reported being healthy before the onset of neurologic symptoms.

Symptoms ranged from acute paralysis to gradually progressive symmetric weakness over periods ranging from 8 to 213 days. Severity ranged from minor weakness and numbness to paralysis predominantly in the lower extremities affecting mobility. 11 patients had evidence of axonal or demyelinating peripheral neuropathy by electrodiagnostic testing. Cerebrospinal fluid was obtained from 7 patients. All 7 had elevated protein levels (median: 125 mg/dL; range: 75-231 mg/dL [normal: 14-45 mg/dL]) with no or minimal pleocytosis (median: 1 cell/dL; range: 1-73 cells/dL in a nontraumatic tap); 5 patients had evidence of inflammation on spinal magnetic resonance imaging (4 patients in peripheral nerves or roots and one patient in the anterior spinal cord).

All 12 patients reported either working at or having regular contact with an area where swine heads were processed (known as the head table), which was located within a larger processing area in plant A known as the warm room. A case-control study was conducted among plant A workers to identify specific risk factors associated with illness. The 10 patients with confirmed or probable cases were included in the study, along with 2 stratified control groups: 1) a random selection of 48 healthy warm-room workers and 2) all 65 healthy head-table workers. Statistically significant (p less than 0.05) differences were calculated by chi-square test. Blood samples and throat swabs were collected from all consenting case-patients and controls. As of 30 Jan 2008, laboratory investigations had not identified any infectious agent from the blood and throat-swab specimens that would explain the occurrence of PIN.

Results of the case-control study indicated that case-patients (7 of 10, 70 per cent) were significantly more likely to have worked at the head table than the warm-room controls (12 of 48, 25 per cent) (odds ratio [OR]: 7.0; 95 per cent confidence interval [CI] = 1.3-42.2; p = 0.009). Case-patients also were more likely to have removed brains or remaining skeletal muscle from the pig head (a process known as backing heads) (4 of 10, 40 per cent) than controls (2 of 46, 4 per cent) (OR: 15.3; CI = 1.8-163.4; p = 0.006). Among head-table workers, case-patients were significantly more likely to have removed brains or skeletal muscle from the head (4 of 7, 57 per cent) than head-table controls (8 of 65, 12 per cent) (OR: 9.50; CI = 1.40-70.2; p = 0.01). Illness was not determined to be associated with previous travel outside or within the USA; exposure to chemicals, fertilizers, or insecticides; use of medications; or receipt of previous vaccinations.

An environmental assessment of the plant was conducted on 28 Nov 2007. Standard personal protective equipment (PPE) used by workers at plant A included hard hats, laboratory coats (including some that were short-sleeved), boots, hearing protection, eye protection, and specialized gloves that varied with the particular task of the worker. A compressed air device was used in the plant to harvest brain tissue from pig heads at the head table. The device was placed into the skull of the pig through the foramen magnum, and the force of the air disrupted the brain material into a liquefied form that made it easier to remove (a technique known as "blowing brains"). This technique caused generation of small droplets and splatter, possibly including aerosolized brain material, to which workers operating the device and others nearby might have been exposed. In response to the investigation, plant A voluntarily suspended harvesting of brains and instituted additional mandatory PPE on 28 Nov 2007, including face shields and long sleeves, for workers stationed at the head table and other workers who chose to use additional PPE.

Results of case-finding survey

A survey of the 25 federally inspected swine slaughterhouses with greater than 500 employees in the USA indicated that only 3 plants (plant A in Minnesota and plants in Nebraska and Indiana) reported recent use of compressed air to extract pig brains. To date, no cases of PIN have been identified in association with workers at the Nebraska plant. However, several workers at the Indiana plant have been preliminarily identified with neurologic illnesses and similar histories of exposure to head-processing activities at that slaughterhouse. Further assessments of these patients, and additional measures to identify other workers with illness, are being conducted in Indiana. As a result of this investigation, all three plants have stopped using compressed air to extract brain material.

[Reported by: Lachance D, Goyal S, Danila R, et al]

MMWR editorial note

This report summarizes an ongoing investigation of PIN, a syndrome that appears to be associated with swine slaughterhouse workers who process pig heads. Several clinical and laboratory features of this illness and the distinctive epidemiology associated with patients appear unique. Pigs slaughtered at plant A have passed inspection by the USA Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service [USDA-FSIS], and the investigation has not identified any foodborne risk to the general population.

The investigation in Minnesota indicates that PIN appears associated with having worked at the head table, where a compressed-air device was used to extract pig brains. In the process of blowing compressed air into the pig skull, brain material might have been splattered or even aerosolized, and workers might have been exposed through inhalation or contact with mucous membranes. One hypothesis for development of PIN is that worker exposure to aerosolized pig neural protein might have induced an autoimmune-mediated peripheral neuropathy (1,2). Additional investigation of the characteristics and causes of PIN is under way.

Whether compressed-air devices are being used for pig-brain extraction in other slaughterhouses or processing facilities, in the USA or internationally, is unknown. Clinicians should provide CDC with information regarding swine slaughterhouse workers who might have illnesses similar to PIN, including patients with peripheral neuropathy, myelopathy, or features of both. Clinicians who identify such patients should report the cases to their state health department and contact CDC at 770-488-7100.

Box: Working case definition for PIN among swine slaughterhouse workers

Epidemiologic criterion: - participation in or close exposure to commercial or private swine slaughtering operations. Clinical criteria: - new onset of bilateral and relatively symmetric flaccid weakness/paralysis of the limbs, with or without involvement of cranial nerve innervated muscles. - new onset of decreased or absent deep tendon reflexes at least in affected limbs. Diagnostic criteria: - electrodiagnostic studies consistent with axonal or demyelinating peripheral neuropathic features in affected limbs and not attributed to an underlying chronic disease condition. - neuroimaging consistent with radiculitis, myelitis, or encephalitis. - cerebrospinal fluid protein level greater than 45 mg/dL (with or without pleocytosis). Exclusion criterion: - identification of an alternative etiology for clinical or diagnostic findings. Case classification: - confirmed case: meets epidemiologic criterion, meets both clinical criteria, and has electrodiagnostic studies consistent with axonal or demyelinating features. - probable case: meets epidemiologic criterion, at least one clinical criterion, and at least one diagnostic criterion. -possible case: meets epidemiologic criterion, and at least one clinical criterion.

[The AP piece states that the compressed air system has been used for 10 years but previous posts have stated that the system was recently installed.

The CDC report, which gives a name to the process, clearly states that respiratory personal protective equipment was not used and also provides a working case definition and more specific information regarding the clinical cases and the case-control study.

No additional information is given regarding etiology, but it remains likely that this is not directly infectious in etiology. - Mod.LL]

Haha!

Randy's old guitar teacher, Derrick, was just on the news for a segment talking about the popularity of Rock Band and Guitar Hero. When we lived in Brighton and were dating Randy was taking lessons from him and Randy had a little recital one time and I went to listen and met Derrick. Randy played 'Hey Bulldog.' I think I also went to some open mic thing Derrick did or maybe it was to see him in a band, can't quite remember, it's a very vague memory from several years ago.

Off to Michigan

So my trip on Thursday from Boston to Albany wasn't so bad on the bus. There weren't very many people on it but the ones that were there represented some of the typical crazies. The bus driver was awesome, very thorough in his job and all the announcements. He was talking me up as I boarded the bus, all friendly, not sure if it was a 'black guy's into me' thing but later when we stopped for a little break I was getting off the bus, walking down the few steps of the bus perfectly fine, not carrying anything but he reached out and grabbed my arm w/ both hands almost all the way up to my shoulder kinda aggressive and 'helped' me down.

At Riverside this black woman got on and sat right in the front behind the driver but when the driver got back on the bus he was kinda mad because he had put his stuff in that seat and I think she just moved it to sit there so he told her next time she had to ask because that was his stuff. She turned out to be a big weirdo. She was wearing some letter pinned to her back. It was a regular sized piece of white computer paper w/ cursive handwriting on it like a letter but the handwriting was small and filled up the whole page so I couldn't read it at all from the distance I was at. After our break I saw her walking back to the bus and she was walking backwards so you just saw this letter coming at you, plus it was enclosed in a clear sleeve for protection :0) While she was off the bus the 70+ year old veteran was just asking out loud to everyone what her deal was and why did she have that on her back. I realized a similar looking letter was also pinned to both her bags of luggage. When she got back on the bus the old guy was asking her about it I think and maybe she said she was an activist. I was trying not to pay attention and had headphones on.

In Albany, I had to wait for my mom for a bit to pick me up. I heard an interesting conversation w/ a cabby talking to this woman that maybe also was a cabby. They seemed to be friends. He was saying how he gave up a $300 fare to someone else, like that meant he was a nice guy but then he said

They were Chinese. I'm not a prejudiced person but I don't like Chinese people. And there must be something wrong if I'm going to give away a $300 fare.

So he was a jerk white guy that was in denial that he's a jerk and his friend was a black woman. What a guy! Obviously he's not prejudiced. He talks to black people for fuck's sake.

This morning at 7am started my trip from Eaton, NY where my mom lives to Rochester Hills, MI. We stopped on the way in Niagra Falls to go running. It was about 30 degrees so not really that cold but the area around the Falls was icy w/ all the mist freezing over on the paved paths. We managed to get in 5 miles and see the Falls. If we stop on the way back I'll get pictures. I've never been when it's that cold I don't think. There was hardly any tourists there so most of the shops were closed. We found one place that had sandwiches so this 75 or so year old man was working there and made our food. When we walked in he was sitting at one of the tables, no one else was in there, except the woman sitting w/ him. She was older too, maybe his woman, and she had very, very fake blonde hair and a red shirt on that said 'Red Diva.' She kinda reminded me of my Great Aunt Lo. Anyway Grandpa made us a veggie burger for mom and egg salad for me. It took a very long time but he made the egg salad kinda from scratch. He started w/ a hard-boiled egg and proceeded from there. I was kinda impressed. We finally got out of there to deal w/ our parking meter. The meter was real weird. It had a camera on it so if your time elapsed it would take a picture and send you a ticket. Luckily there was a grace period before that happened where you could throw in more money and not get a ticket. We had to do that a bunch of times because we kept running out of time but luckily no violation.

Made it into Canada okay. I also got to listen to my all-time fav radio station, 102.1 The Edge, out of Toronto. I started listening back when I was an undergrad at SUNY Buffalo and we got that station. I was so sad when I moved to Boston and no more The Edge. Anyway I got to listen for awhile today. Just before going back into the US for Michigan we were low on gas so got off at an exit to get some. We drove around for over 30 minutes trying to find gas on empty and fearing we'd completely run out. Mom started stopping in the middle of the street to ask random pedestrians or wave at cars to roll down their windows to help us because w/ each person they'd give directions but we wouldn't find the place. It took a few tries but then we found some gas. Mom said it reminded her of the Amazing Race when the people ask random strangers to physically take them to a place because that was what she was about to do.

So now w/ a full tank of gas we made our way back into the US. At the border the patrolman I guess was trying to be funny and asked

"Do you have any Canadian cabana boys hidden in the back?" I said "I wish." I'm not sure if he heard me so my mom repeated what I said and then added "She must be looking." Patrolman then said "That's not good." Then I was thinking, Oh Shit, why can't you just keep your mouth closed. He's going to pull us over because I'm being a smart-ass. Luckily for us his response was "That's when you settle." So I guess he was saying That's not good that I'm looking for someone because that's when you settle on anyone. Might be true, but not the case yet for me.

Finally made it to my brother's 10.5 hours after leaving my mom's. So weird to see my niece and nephew. Hadn't seen them since Easter. They grow up so fast! JJ is now walking all over on his own, he's 1y 2m, and has all kinds of teeth. Ella's basically potty-trained and saying all kinds of stuff at 2y 9m. She loves to dance so we were dancing in the living room to the music channels on cable. We had it on the rap channel and she was calling it 'the nasty music' and shaking her butt all over the place, then we'd turn it to bluegrass and she'd yell 'Yippee Caillou' and 'Yee-haw.' If we put it on the metal station she'd do headbanging moves. Awesome! Can't wait until tomorrow. Too bad I'll be exhausted because I'm staying up while everyone else is asleep and then they'll wake me up really early in the morning.

I'm out

I'm leaving in a couple hours and will be gone for a week. I'm taking the lovely bus today from Boston to Albany. Will get to Albany at 3:50p. My mom will be waiting for me there to drive 2.5 hrs to her house, it's about an hour SE of Syracuse, assuming the weather is good. She lives in the middle of nowhere so there's always more snow to deal w/. She's nice to pick me up in Albany because if I take it closer to her house it's just a nightmare. We stop at every little town inbetween and a 5-hour drive by car turns into 8-9 hrs.

Then tomorrow will start the second leg of the trip. We will drive about 9 hours west to my brother's in Michigan. A 2-day journey for me. Yuck! I would rather just fly but my mom wants to drive and not alone so I have spend more time traveling instead of w/ my niece and nephew. I hate to waste vacation days for traveling but I guess it's not so bad since I get 4 weeks of vacation a year and have trouble using it all up.

Anyway, will get to MI Friday afternoon and then have until we leave Tuesday morning to hang w/ my 2.5 year old niece and 1 year old nephew. I haven't seen them since Easter :0(

I'm not sure how much internet access I'll have when I'm there but if I have some I'll try and post.

I hope my girls don't have too much fun w/out me this weekend!

RobReed HATES that I use Facebook

I just started recently but I didn't expect to spend much time w/ it. I knew I had friends on it but I just wasn't interested. I have my own weblog so who needs Facebook.

I got 'invited' by my friend Andrew, very random, we took a summer class together. I joined and thought that would be it but since then I've accumulated some friends and actually do stuff w/ it everyday. It's pretty useless stuff but it's very easy to deal w/ so I end up doing it. It is a good way to keep in touch w/ people that you might not otherwise but since it's in this centralized place you can manage things easily and quickly.

My little comeback to RR is that I have my blog address on my profile so Facebook can hopefully increase my viewership.

Most of the Facebook interactions w/ my friends are not possible w/ my blog. I can only just keep posting and hope someone reads and spend some time w/ my site on a regular basis so people have a reason to keep coming back. So I'll still need Facebook to keep up w/ the friends.

Anyway, Facebook is in the news and it's not a good thing.

It's still the same location

Here's an article about the growing campus of Emmanuel College, my alma mater. I graduated in 1998 so I was there when it was only women and I guess no money, not many students or faculty or equipment or opportunity, etc. I had my reasons for going there that were specific to my situation. I transferred there from a HUGE university, University at Buffalo, and for several reasons just needed a change.

My decision to go there turned out really well for me and I'd say one of the biggest reasons was the location, and as I said in the title of this post, it's still the same location.

I started working at Brigham & Women's Hospital while still a student there. I just had to walk down the street and I was there, very convenient. So many opportunities in the Longwood Medical Area even before Merck was on campus. I ended up working at BWH after graduating and was exposed to several different labs all in that area.

Now I've been through grad school and now my postdoc and had to go back to Emmanuel as an invited speaker to their biology honors society induction. In my lovely speech, which I had that on tape, it'd be a big YouTube hit, I tried to emphasize that Emma was in a great location with lots of opportunities that I was fortunate enough to take advantage of and I stressed to these students that they should too. Who knows if anyone listened to me, or already knew, or didn't care...

I guess my point is that before Merck, Emma was in a great location, so would work for some students like me I guess. Regardless they needed money and now they have that so maybe it's better I guess. I do know they offer more in the bio dept. know, have more classes, more faculty and probably better equipment which from experience I know they needed.

Not sure what else I have to say so Bye.

Thanks for stopping by!

Buy Me Stuff

Really?

Thanks, very nice of you.

First, check my Amazon.com Wish List and there's no need to worry that I already have it or won't use it.

Tip: Check around for better pricing. Amazon's pricing is usually good, but not always the best available.

A quick Froogle search can't hurt.
